Exceed and Excel Lonhro

The midweek meetings were at Warwick Farm,Bendigo and Strathalbyn with a treble to the Lonhro's as they took out the first two at the farm. Exceed and Excel's continue to do well for the Godolphin camp while Smart Missile and the Ambidexters continue to get winners most days. James Mcdonald was on fire with five winners yesterday and three of them were for the James Cummings operation.
  • Lonhro and Warwick Farm -- In the opening two races at the Farm we saw Lonhro and James Mcdonald to the fore. Firstly it was the 3 year old colt Roheryn who finished strongly to win in the heavy conditions for the Godolphin camp. He is the last foal of Mannington who was the daughter of Bint Marscay''s mating with Danehill and she has also produced the VRC Derby winner Benicio. The second maiden was won by Colombina, a filly by Lonhro out of the Commands mare,Mascareri. In the 1600m benchmark 76 saw the very well bred 4yo mare Aqua D'ivinia score a good win for the Matt Smith/Jason Collett combo. She is by Pierro out of that super group one winning Danehill mare, Aqua D'amore and now has 3 wins and 3 seconds from her six starts.
  • Exceed and Excels and Cummings -- The winner of the last Roosevelt, needs to be mentioned because of the enormous run the Exceed and Excels are having in Sydney and it also gave James Mcdonald five for the day. It was a benchmark 70 over 1100m and the three year old colt absolutely bolted in by six. He is out of the Canny Lad mare, Seances.
Exceed and Excel doing it both hemispheres currently sixth on the top sire list in Europe
  • Sebrings and Ambidexters -- Another breed who have been recording alot of victories lately have been the Sebrings and yesterday they recorded a double with wins to the Darren Weir trained Ringadingding at Bendigo over 1400m with young Ben Allen riding. While at the farm it was the Waller camp who have such great affinity with the breed that added the 1400m bm70 to their tally when Velocita won for James Mcdonald. The Ambidexters continue to get winners nearly every meeting in South Australia and again yesterday as the mare First Kiss by Ambidexter broke her maiden status at her third start for the Phillip Stokes camp. There could be more wins in store for her.The four year old Lonhro gelding Rock Harbour broke his maiden status at Strathalbyn for the Jolly camp over the 1350m at his third start.
  • Beauty and Smart Missile -- The Tony Mcevoy trained Beauty showed plenty of tenacity to hold off a strong challenge in the BM 70 0ver 1100m at Bendigo. The Smart Missile fillies are really making their presence felt this spring with Maid Of Heaven winning the group one Champion Stakes, last Saturday and Smart Melody who will be trying to keep her unbeaten run going in the group one Thousand Guineas this Saturday.I would not be surprised to see this filly win in Saturday grade.
